Flashcards for iPad Issues
We were finding it extremely hard to be noticed in the Education Category, so we decided to give away the app for FREE (for a week only). So far we’ve had around 20,000 downloads and we’ve hit the top of the charts in under 2 days (we still haven’t been featured in the APPS FOR KIDS category though!). We are now the top Free Education app for the iPad - Interestingly, another app that a friend makes in the education category is also in the top 10 in the Paid category and is making under $50 a day.
There seems to be a massive difference between the number of people who are willing to pay for a quality education product, and those that will download anything because it’s free. From a marketing point of view, it’s hard to know if it’s worth charging for the application – We’d much rather see people using the app, but we also need to cover our costs and generate income for improvements like additional language packs.
Apology to our customers
Firstly, we’ve tried to iron our problems with the application crashing. In doing so, we changed the name of the database source, which also means that if you update the app and you’ve already had language packs installed, you’re going to lose your in-app purchases. We can’t actually fix this until we run a new update. We might even have the same problem again, which is very disappointing. Until then, we would recommend NOT UPGRADING and putting up with the occasional crash, until 1.2 is released. Anyone else that has experienced losing their in-app purchases, please contact support@inkids.com.au and we can work out a way to refund your money (you may need to upload screen shot with your iTunes user name so we aren’t just handing out cash to anybody with their hand out).
Some other Bugs we are working on
In the updated version, people buying Spanish Language packs have reported receiving French. We are also looking into this and will have it fixed in the next version. We are also aware of a number of translation problems that we are working on updating, so please be patient and we’ll try and get anything else wrong fixed with the software A.S.A.P – If you have any suggestions of updates, please emails us.
iPhone Version
If you’ve purchased the iPhone version and are wondering where it is. We promptly removed it from the app store after we worked out how slow it seems to be running under the later OS. Again, we are looking into this and hope to get an update up in the next couple of weeks.
