We’ve just found out that the NSW Government will be funding one of our projects as part of the Interactive Media Fund – here’s the official announcement.

Flashcards for iPad is one of seven creative projects that will be supported by the Interactive Media Fund, along with the next evolution of the Fruit Ninja (Halfbrick Studios). With the Government’s assistance, we’ll be building on our concept to create a cross-platform title with the goal of making Flashcards the best children’s learning application in the tablet category.

We are extremely excited to have this opportunity and we’re looking forward to creating versions for Android, other devices, and in other languages. Japanese, Brazilian and Arabic language versions are just some of the enhancements in the pipeline for the Flashcards project, as well as a complete design overhaul.

It’s great to see initiatives like this supporting small business alongside some of the bigger players in the industry – The NSW Government’s Interactive Media Fund will provide $3 million over two years to support creative digital content, including electronic games and transmedia projects.  The program will provide market place support NSW based businesses tackle the global games market (which is expected to more than double to $53 billion by 2016 and mobile gaming to triple to $17.5 billion).

Here’s the official media release, and our own which includes some comments from our Local Member, Tim Owen.
